How to Set Up your MacBook for the First Time

This guide details what steps you need to take to set up your new Company-issued MacBook

Setup Duration: 10 minutes for the steps below

You will need:

The IT Configurator iPhone
The Apple credentials to enrol your new MacBook to IT's management platform (shared by IT via DashLane)
A Wi-Fi connection
IT available to receive the OTP code

Steps:

Part 1 - On the IT Configurator iPhone:

1. Connect to Wi-Fi

2. Open the purple Configurator app

3. Keep this app open with the phone physically next to your new MacBook

Part 2 - On your new MacBook:

4. Switch it On

5. Follow the Welcome steps and stop at the Connect to Wi-Fi screen - don't connect to Wi-Fi at this point!

6. The display should automatically change to show a large, blue spinning globe (this means that your new MacBook has detected the IT Configurator iPhone). The below image is what we are aiming to see on your new MacBook

Part 3 - On the IT Configurator iPhone:

7. Scan the large, blue spinning globe using the IT Configurator iPhone

8. Log in using the Apple credentials IT shared with you via Dashlane

9. Allow the texted OTP to be sent - IT can Zoom DM the code

10. Enter the OTP and leave the iPhone and MacBook to connect with each other

Give your new MacBook a few minutes and it should be all done! There will be an option to Shut Down/Restart - please click on Shut Down and let IT know when this whole process is complete. There is 1 more setting IT have to do before you finally set up your MacBook
